Nine suspects arrested in police sweep
A law enforcement saturation detail in Greene and Fayette counties that was held on April 20 resulted in nine arrests, more than 100 traffic stops and five bar inspections.
?Six people were arrested on warrants for drug charges, two others were arrested on drug charges and one person was arrested for driving under the influence, said Greene County District Attorney Marjorie J. Fox, who commended police officers from various agencies and constables in both counties for taking part in the Wednesday night detail, which focused on high-crime areas.
On warrants for possession with intent to deliver, police arrested Jacob Miller of Waynesburg, Shawn Christopher of Crucible, Samuel Reese of Rices Landing, Amy Renner of Waynesburg, Jeremiah Metcalf of Nemacolin and Charles Shuff of Smithfield. The suspects’ ages were not available.
Those arrested for DUI and drug charges were not identified.
In addition to the arrests, police found two violations at the five bars they inspected, made 143 traffic stops, issued 17 citations for traffic violations, issued 80 written and verbal warnings and searched 21 vehicles.
Police from the Carmichaels, Cumberland Township, Masontown, Waynesburg and Uniontown police departments participated in the detail. State police, drug task forces and district attorneys’ offices from both counties, state constables, state Attorney General’s office agents and state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement also took part in the effort.
