Scholarships awarded to area students
Two Carmichaels Area School District graduates recently learned that they are the recipients of three scholarships.
Amanda Juliani and Robert Kowalewski were each awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Paul and Dolores Jazwa Lavins Scholarship Fund.
Each year, the fund awards two $5,000 scholarships, renewable each year for four years, to two deserving Carmichaels seniors.
This is the 12th year this scholarship has been given at Carmichaels.
Robert Kowalewski was the recipient of the Michael E. Holupka Jr. and Kathleen Marinoff Gift Fund, which awards a $1,000 scholarship each year for no longer than five years to a deserving Carmichaels senior.
This fund has been an active part of Carmichaels’ graduation for the past 13 years.
Amanda Juliani is the daughter of Richard and Charlene Juliani of Carmichaels. She plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Pharmacy.
Robert Kowalewski is the son of Robert and Rita Kowalewski of Crucible. He plans to attend Robert Morris University and major in Biomedical Engineering.
The criteria for both scholarship selections include need, grades, co-curricular participation, contributions to the school and a positive attitude toward the need for a college education.
