Donald G. Henderson
Donald G. “Hounddog” Henderson, 67, of Mt. Morris, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born Monday, May 22, 1944, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Frank and Dorothy Thomas Henderson.
Mr. Henderson graduated from Mapletown High School in 1962.
He was a proud member of United Mine Workers of America.
Mr. Henderson volunteered for service in the U.S. Army, where he served during Vietnam. He was stationed in Stockton, Calif., where he met his future wife, Charlotte Macklin, and it was love at first sight. After a short courtship, they were married in Mt. Morris March 30, 1968.
He was employed at Shannopin Mine for more than 20 years and retired from SCI Waynesburg in 2004.
Mr. and Mrs. Henderson raised their family in Davistown.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Macklin Henderson; a daughter, Dawn Henderson of Mt. Morris; three sons, Brett and wife Jennifer Henderson of Stockton, Bradley and wife Melissa Henderson of Waynesburg and Bryan and wife Mary Henderson of Mt. Morris; five grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Stump of Davistown; two brothers, Richard and William Henderson, both of Davistown; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two granddaughters, Bethanie Marie and Grace Anne.
