Fred A. Ewing
Fred A. Ewing, 75, of Aleppo Township, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, W.Va., after battling a cancer-related illness since June.
He was born August 6, 1936, in Marshall County, W.Va., son of the late Fred Anderson Ewing II and Hilda Faye Lilley Ewing.
Mr. Ewing lived and traveled to many areas of the United States and returned to Marshall County in 1974, where he lived until moving to Greene County in 1996.
He formerly attended Aleppo Brethren Church.
Mr. Ewing was considered the neighborhood handyman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and discussing his knowledge of guns.
He was employed as a federal and state certified electrician by Consolidation Coal at Blacksville (W.Va.) Mine 2 for 25 years prior to retiring in 1998 as a maintenance foreman.
On November 9, 1959, he married Joyce Ann Thacker, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Tammy Jo, wife of Rick Watson of Marshall County, Robin, wife of Allen Wells of Wayne Township (Bluff Ridge) and Sunni, wife of Kenny Burnett of St. Clairsville, Ohio; from a previous marriage, a daughter, Wendy Bouvier and a son, Fred A. Ewing IV, both of Arizona; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Read Ewing of Tempe, Ariz.; and a sister, Florence, wife of Bill Mau of Mesa, Ariz.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a daughter, Sherry Harner, and a brother, Keith Ewing.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice.
