Lois E. Minteer Hollowood

Lois E. Minteer Hollowood, 88, of Waynesburg, died at 5:15 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2011, at Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, following an eight-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born Monday, April 2, 1923, in Green Tree, daughter of the late William C. and Grace Young Minteer.

While her health permitted, Mrs. Hollowood was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. She was a member of the Harmony Sunday School class.

She also was a member of Bowlby Public Library Club and the Women’s Club in Waynesburg.

She enjoyed going to flea markets and antique shows. Mrs. Hollowood also enjoyed knitting and sewing.

During World War II, she served two years with the WAVES in the U.S. Navy.

She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Edwin L. Hollowood, whom she married September 1, 1948, survives.

Also surviving is a daughter, Becky L. (Gary L.) Veltre of Nineveh; a son, Lawrence E. (Dena) Hollowood of Danville, Calif.; four grandchildren; a sister, Mimi Uhrman of Blue Jay, Calif.; a brother, Sam Minteer of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, William Minteer.

The family asks that memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Avenue, Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222-4256.
