Ronald S. Lusco
Ronald S. Lusco, 64, of New Freeport (Garrison), died at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011, in his home, after battling a cancer-related illness since May 2010.
He was born June 19, 1947, in Terre Haute, Ind., son of the late John S. and Alma Essie Bailey Lusco. He had resided in the Lone Pine area from 2004 until moving to Springhill Township in 2009.
Mr. Lusco was a former member of Lighthouse Community Church in Washington, where he served on the board of elders, and was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir and a volunteer for the men’s prayer breakfast. He was a member of Aleppo Brethren Church at the time of his death.
He was a 1965 graduate of Wiley High School in Terre Haute and a 1976 graduate of Indiana University.
Mr. Lusco was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He enjoyed gardening, splitting wood, fruit farming and country living in general.
Mr. Lusco was formerly employed by General Motors and Delco-Remy in Anderson, Ind., prior to being employed as an engineer with RPM Industries from 1995 until being forced to go on disability in October because of ill health.
He had been a professional bass and harmonica player and was a soloist all his life, having performed professionally with the XL’s and the Bandit Band. He and his wife performed and recorded music for their music ministry since 2005.
On March 11, 2005, he married Sandra Jane Brickner, who survives.
Also surviving are children from a previous marriage, Scott Lusco, companion of Suzanne King of St. Petersburg, Fla., Erika Lusco, wife of Juan Reascos of Kansas City, Mo., and Tina Lusco of Shirley, Ind.; stepchildren Jered, husband of Rebecca Reeves of Washington, and Jordan and Calvin Reeves, at home; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Washington City Mission, Hospice Care of Washington Hospital or Union Mission of Fairmont, W.Va.
