The Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund Committee has announced that the 21st annual $1,500 scholarship was presented to Rhetta King, 17, of Open Door Christian School. Rhetta plans to attend Geneva College or Grove City College to pursue a degree in Elementary Education this fall. Rhetta is the daughter of Brian and LeeAnn King of Waynesburg.

This scholarship, the 21st for the Chamber, is presented each year to a Greene County senior who plans to attend a college, university or trade school. The scholarship is awarded based on grade point average and a 500-word essay on “How they plan to use their education to make a difference in your life and your community.”

?This year, 22 applications for the scholarship were received by the Chamber. The committee had a difficult task of selecting one winner from the qualified field. The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all who participated in the process.

The scholarship was presented at the Chamber’s Quarterly Membership Networking Luncheon in May.
