Blue Montain goes 2-1 in FCBL for week

Blue Mountain scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and winning pitcher Justin Schrader made the advantage stand as the Copperheads defeated Mill Run, 10-2, in Fayette County Baseball League action last Saturday.

Blue Mountain scored four runs in the bottom of the second, and three more in the bottom of the sixth.

?Ron Nopwasky led the way for the Copperheads with a double and single and drove home the final five runs. Eric Holt also had a double and single, driving home three runs. Joe Havrilak led off the bottom of the first with a home run. Gene Franks had two singles and scored three runs.

Schrader (3-0) pitched the first 5.1 innings for the win, striking out seven and walking five. Jonathan Krall finished the game, striking out two and walking one.

Robby Egan started for Mill Run and took the loss. Dennis Show had a double.

Blue Mountain 3, Mitch’s Bail Bonds 1: Joby Lapkowicz struck out 10 batters and allowed no earned runs as Blue Mountain picked up it’s 12th win of the year in a victory over Mitch’s Bail Bonds on Sunday.

Lapkowicz pitched a complete game for Blue Mountain while allowing just one hit in the seventh inning. He walked five batters.

Gene Franks and Shane Valentine each had a double and a single to lead Blue Mountain, which scored two runs in the third and another in the fifth.

Pat Gannon took the loss for Mitch’s Bail Bonds, striking out two and walking a pair.

Mill Run 7, Blue Mountain 2: Bill Bendis pitched a complete game for the winners, striking out seven and walking four batters. Dennis Show had a two-run homer in the fourth inning for Mill Run and Chris Firestone added a double. Joe Havrilak tripled for Blue Mountain (12-4), while Shane Valentine took the loss.
