Cumberland Township buys insurance
CUMBERLAND TWP. — Cumberland Township supervisors on Monday bought three insurance policies for a total of more than $95,000.
?The supervisors unanimously approved buying workers compensation insurance from the State Workers’ Insurance Fund for $65,224.
In addition, the supervisors agreed to buy a $16,984 commercial policy package covering property, crime, general liability and vehicles from Selective Insurance Group and a $13,942 policy covering police and public officials from National Casualty Co.
Approval of all three policies was made retroactive to July 1.
In unrelated business, the supervisors approved four measures involving gas exploration companies.
Hauling agreements with Energy Contractors and Nabors Well Services covering Tin Can Hollow Road from the water plant to Crucible Road and with Eastern Energy for Neff and Hill roads were approved.
Agreements for temporary sewage holding tanks were approved for Chevron and Energy Corp.
Turning to other business, the supervisors approved personnel changes in the police department.
Justin Todd Schultz and Cody Josiah Spangler were hired as part-time police officers at $11.50 an hour and no benefits.
Supervisors accepted the resignations of part-time officers Kurtis Defoor and Daniel Eddy. The resignation were effective July 1.
The supervisors also amended the resolution that charges a fee for installing utility lines in township right-of-ways.
The original resolution, which charged $3 for each foot of line installed, was amended to charge $3 for the first 1,500 feet of line and 50 cents for each additional foot.
