‘Fourth of July Celebration’ a success
The Waynesburg Lions Club’s 20th “4th of July Celebration” was a great success in spite of the fact that one week before the event the club was informed that the stage in front of the grandstand at the Greene County Fairgrounds had been ruled unsafe. The club then scrambled to seek an alternate place.
Greene County Commissioner Pam Snyder, recreation and park manager Jake Blaker and fairgrounds manager John Riley and staff went far above normal service to prepare the indoor show arena for the 7:30?p.m. closing program. Heaven Bound Ministries’ staff spent two days cleaning and setting up stage equipment and then decorated in patriotic décor for their concert. The county set up more than 200 extra chairs to accommodate an arena full of spectators.
?From the ever-popular pancake breakfast to the classic car show, Little Miss Firecracker, the karaoke contest and sold-out food booth, to the climax of a gigantic fireworks display, the Waynesburg Lions Club turned an adverse situation into a very positive conclusion and continues to have a positive presence in our area.
Proud to be a Lion,
