Melba Hope Davis Barr
Melba Hope Davis Barr, 80, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, in Donnell House, Washington, after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 14, 1931, in Greensboro, a daughter of Thomas H. and Hazel M. Phillips Davis.
A homemaker, she was Methodist.
Mrs. Barr attended Washington High School.
She belonged to the Washington Chapter 318 Women of the Moose and the Arden Club.
On June 12, 1971, she married Charles Ralph “Jake” Barr, who died July 6, 2009.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Sherri) Flynn of Warnersville and Patrick Michael (Lori) Flynn of Washington; two daughters, Deborah (Charles) Lazear of Bridgeville and Gwendola “Gwen” (Charles) Gongaware of Washington; two stepsons, Charles Allan Barr of Columbus, Ohio, and Ralph Eugene (Susan) Barr of Clarksville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Deanna (Mark) McAlister of Williamsburg, Va., and Tina K. (Mike) Phillips of Clarksville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She also leaves two good friends at Humbert Lane, Connie and Helen.
Deceased are a daughter, Candy Sue Flynn; a grandson, Mark Allen Harris; and five sisters, Wilda Hoban, Gwendola Cummins, Betty Thompson, Stella Fawcett and Mary Archer.
