Wayne L. Bissett
Wayne L. Bissett, 85, of Hundred, W.Va., formerly of Greene County, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
He was born June 13, 1926, in New Freeport (Nettle Hill), a son of the late George Wayne and Pearl Mae Stipes Bissett, and had been a resident of the Hundred area all his married life.
Mr. Bissett was a 1944 graduate of Waynesburg High School.
A veteran of World War II, he served as a seaman first class in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the American Area Victory Medal.
Mr. Bissett was a member of American Legion Post 18 in Cameron, W.Va.
He was employed for several years with Columbia Gas Corp. as a heavy equipment operator prior to retiring in 1984.
Mr. Bissett was married to the late Margaret A. Church, who died in December 1999.
Surviving are a son, Gerald, husband of Mary Bissett of New Martinsville, W.Va.; a granddaughter; a sister, Leone Grimes of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, is a brother who died in infancy.
