Ferne Staggers-Haught

Ferne Staggers-Haught, 77, of Waynesburg, formerly of Banning, Calif., died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.

She was born Monday, March 6, 1933, in Bristoria, a daughter of the late Arthur D. Staggers and Mildred Whipkey Staggers.

Mrs. Staggers-Haught enjoyed painting and writing poetry and short stories. In California, she was a licensed vocational nurse and also taught nursing.

Her husband, Ulysses Lewis Augustine, died June 29, 2010.

Surviving are two sons, James Michael Haught of Lake Lynn and Timothy Christopher Haught of California; three grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jennette Staggers of Jefferson; a brother-in-law, James Smith of Ruff Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are four sisters, Kate Murdock, Marie Benson, Gay Smith and Artie Mankey, and two brothers, Ike Staggers and Allen Staggers.

The family asks that memorials be made to American Cancer Society Pa. Division Inc. S/W Region, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620.
