Five girls crowned during pageant

CARMICHAELS – Five girls were crowned Miss Greene County in their age divisions during the 21st annual Miss Greene County Pageant on Sunday.

The pageant was held in the Stanley Ferek III Auditorium of Carmichaels Area High School. A queen and first runner-up were crowned in each of the five age categories – tiny, petite, junior, young and teen.

The five queens crowned were: Tiny Miss, Annalise Willis, 4, of Waynesburg; Petite Miss, Valentina Bruno, 6, of Waynesburg; Junior Miss, Delaney Lohr, 9, of Carmichaels; Young Miss, Stephanie Mitchell, 14, of Carmichaels; and Teen Miss, Kendall Lewis, 15, of Carmichaels.

Each of the five queens received a trophy, crown, sash and bouquet and will receive a $100 savings bond.

Fourteen contestants competed in this year’s pageant, which had the theme “Don’t Stop Believing.”

“We’d like to thank all of our young ladies who participated in this year’s pageant,” said Greene County Commissioners Chairwoman Pam Snyder and master of ceremonies for the pageant. “All of the contestants worked hard and should be very proud of themselves. We are also looking forward to working with our five queens during the next year as they represent Greene County.”

The contestant age categories were: Tiny Miss, 2 to 4 years; Petite Miss, 5 to 7 years; Junior Miss, 8 to 11 years; Young Miss, 12 to 14 years; and Teen Miss, 15 to 17 years.

In the Tiny Miss division, Willis also won the photogenic award. Runner-up Jersey Smith, 4, of Carmichaels won the sportswear and formalwear modeling awards. Other Tiny Miss contestants included Addison Palko, 3, of Jefferson and Amrei Weber, 4, of Waynesburg.

In the Petite Miss division, Bruno also won the photogenic, talent and formalwear awards. Runner-up Ember Weber, 5, of Waynesburg won the sportswear award.

In the Junior Miss division, Lohr also won the photogenic, sportswear, talent and formalwear awards. Runner-up was Alison Blair, 9, of Waynesburg.

In the Young Miss division, Mitchell also won the photogenic, interview, sportswear, talent and formalwear awards.

Runner-up Kirsten Clites, 13, of Jefferson, also won the Director’s Award for raising the most money in advertising sponsorships among all contestants. She received a trophy and will receive a $500 savings bond.

In the Teen Miss division, Lewis also won the photogenic, sportswear and talent awards. Runner-up Lakelyn Sheldon, 15, of Crucible won the interview and formalwear awards. Other Teen Miss contestants included Robi Arbogast, 16, of Waynesburg and Floretta Chambers, 16, of Carmichaels.

Judges for the pageant were Alycia Darby, reigning Miss Maryland Galaxy and a dance instructor, choreographer and pageant coach; Leigh Langgle, “Go Red” spokeswoman, pageant coach and model; and Joanne Shupe, 2010 Miss PA COED Elegant Woman and an independent Mary Kay consultant.

Assisting in the awards ceremonies were the 2010 Miss Greene County queens: Tiny Miss Brooklynn Ackley of Waynesburg, Petite Miss Remmey Lohr of Carmichaels, Junior Miss Juliana Fowler of Waynesburg, Young Miss Amanda Frampton of New Freeport and Teen Miss Mikayla Sonneborn of West Finley.

Also assisting were Erica Bristor, 2011 Miss Great Lakes, Chelsea Moore, 2010 Greene County Fair queen, and Kelcee Headlee, 2010 Miss Rain Day.

The 2011 Miss Greene County Pageant was sponsored by Consol Energy Inc., and the Greene County commissioners, with additional support from Energy Corporation of America and Patriot Exploration Corporation. The pageant was presented by the Greene County Department of Recreation.

All proceeds from the 2011 Miss Greene County Pageant will benefit Department of Recreation programs, such as day camp, which provides free activities for county children every summer. For more information, call 724-852-5323.
