Controller announces he will seek re-election
Dave Balint of Waynesburg recently announced that he will seek the Democratic nomination for re-election to the position of county controller in the May primary.
The controller is the chief accountant of the county whose primary duties include supervising fiscal affairs, accounts payable, and auditing all county row offices and departments. The controller also serves as a member of the salary, retirement and prison boards.
Balint has held the position of county controller since 2008. Prior to being elected controller, Balint served as Greene County’s deputy controller since 2004 and county auditor since 2001.
A native of Greene County, Balint is a graduate of Waynesburg Central High School and Waynesburg University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in accounting with a minor in business management. He is also a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.
“I believe my experience, education, and professional certifications will enable me to continue to perform the duties of the Office of Controller capably and with the highest degree of integrity,” Balint said. “I am hopeful that the citizens of Greene County will afford me that opportunity.”
Active in the community, Dave volunteers as the vice president of the Corner Cupboard Food Bank and as a firefighter with the Waynesburg Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department. He is a member and former treasurer and trustee of the Washington St. United Methodist Church. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania State Association of County Controllers, Waynesburg Masonic Lodge and the Waynesburg Moose Lodge.
Balint resides in Waynesburg with his wife, Kayla, and their son, Beau.
