Donald R. Allen, 77, of Peyton, Colo., formerly of Garards Fort, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, in Terrace Gardens Health Care Center, Colorado Springs, Colo.

He was born March 3, 1934, in LaFollette, Tenn., a son of the late Howard Harry and Lottie Belle Pierce Allen Sr.

Mr. Allen was a 1953 graduate of Mapletown High School and was a carpenter by trade. He also worked as an outfitter and hunting guide in Colorado.

Mr. Allen enjoyed his dogs and hunting.

His wife, Joan Fox Allen, whom he married December 31, 1971, and was the “love of his life,” died October 3, 1994.

Surviving are a son, Barry Keith and his children of Ohio; a sister, Margaret (Peggy) Fox of Greensboro; a sister-in-law, Shirley Allen of Carmichaels; and special friends Sue and Jerry Powell of Fountain, Colo.

Deceased are a brother, Howard Harry Allen Jr., and a sister, Barbara Lee Allen.
