George Donald Graham
George Donald Graham, 89, died Friday, November 18, 2011.
He was born March 13, 1922, in Waynesburg, a son of the late George E.P. and Icie Huffman Graham.
Mr. Graham enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in fall 1940. Of the five years in the Air Corps, three of them were in the Japanese Theater of War. He served in Guadalcanal, New Hebridies and New Caledonia for two years. After returning from overseas duty Christmas Day 1943, he was stationed at Columbia Army Air Base in Columbia, S.C. It was there he met Harriet Argoe, whom he married December 31, 1945. He graduated from the University Of South Carolina School Of Pharmacy in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a well-respected pharmacist in various drug stores and retired from Dorn Veteran’s Hospital in 1984.
He was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of more than 65 years, Harriet Argoe Graham; two sons, Donald D. Graham of New York City and Timothy George Graham and wife Michelle of Columbia; two grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Frances Graham Cowden of Waynesburg; and brothers Dr. Charles Graham of Pittsburgh, Lloyd Graham of Brownsville and Harold Graham of Kingman, Ariz.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Columbia, S.C. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 21, in Ebenezer Lutheran Church, with burial in the churchyard.
