Demolition of Ten Mile Creek Bridge slated for Sept. 12

1 min read

The state Department of Transportation recently announced that traffic near the Ten Mile Creek Bridge, which carries Route 88 across Ten Mile Creek between Greene and Washington counties, will be stopped on Sept. 12, prior to demolition which is tentatively slated for 9 a.m.

During the demolition process there will be a mandatory safety zone surrounding the demolition area. This necessitates the closure of surrounding roadways, Ten Mile Creek and other restrictions, PennDOT officials said.

?Traffic can expect a stoppage on the following roads for approximately 15 minutes in the vicinity of the bridge around 9 a.m. to allow for the implosion: Route 88 southbound and northbound, Route 2039 (Main Street) and Route 2055 (Black Dog Hollow Road).

Navigation traffic on the Monongahela River will not be affected. However, recreational boaters should be aware that Ten Mile Creek will be shut down approximately one hour prior to the implosion.

The area around the bridge on Ten Mile Creek will be shut down to recreational boaters for 48 hours immediately following the implosion for debris clean up.

PennDOT also reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions before heading out.
