Waynesburg golfers beat Falcons, Mikes

Waynesburg Central 192, Brownsville 293; Waynesburg Central 192, Carmichaels 234 — The Raiders swept a Division II, Section 8 triangular played at home at Rohanna’s Golf Course.

Waynesburg’s Loren Dukate was the medalist with a 2-over 35. Emily Rohanna finished with a 37 and Aaron Haywood shot a 39. Dalton Haywood carded a 40 and Danny Yingling finished with a 41.

Mike Adamson was the low man for the Falcons with a 51. Brad Britvich shot a 53, Derek Lent had a 60, and Matt Karol finished with a 64. Zane McShane shot a 65.

Justin Newman led the Mikes with a 6-over 39. Brandon Wamsley finished with a 43, Jordan Bogucki had a 45 and Brandon Wolfe carded a 49. Tristan Santella closed the scoring with a 58.

Bentworth 197, Carmichaels 224 — Kyle Kubobich shot a 1-under par 36 at Carmichaels Golf Course to lead the Bearcats to a non-section win.

Brandon Wamsley led the Mikes with a 39. Brandon Wolfe and Jordan Boguki each carded 42. Justin Newman (47) and Tristan Santella (54) rounded out the scoring.

Girls cross country

Uniontown 21, Waynesburg Central 40 — Uniontown grabbed eight of the top 10 places for a non-section road victory on the Greene County Airport course.

Julie Friend finished first in 20:15, 12 seconds ahead of Uniontown teammate Julie Gerber.

A pair of Danielles broke the string for the home squad with Danielle Jacobs in third in 22:30 and Danielle Bernansky fourth with a time of 23:28.

Uniontown controlled the next couple minutes with Rachel Diamond fifth (24:13), Jade Bellotti sixth (24:20), Paige Tabbe seventh (24:21), and Kayla Goodwin eighth (25:14).

Boys cross country

Uniontown 15, Waynesburg Central 50 — The Red Raiders took the first eight places to shut out their hosts in a non-section meet at the Greene County Airport course.

Nate Edenfield finished first in 17:55, five seconds ahead of Uniontown teammate Brady Guthrie. Braden Carei was third in 18:23, Torin Kelley fourth (19:31), and Justin Hostetler was fifth (20:27).

Gage Griffin was the first Waynesburg runner in, crossing the finish line in 21:32 for ninth place. Teammate Chris Hamilton was 10th with a time of 21:35.

Girls volleyball

Laurel Highlands 3, Waynesburg Central 0 — The Fillies opened the Section 7-AA schedule with a home victory over the Lady Raiders.

Laurel Highlands won in straight sets, 25-14, 25-8, 25-10.

Haley Moreland led Laurel Highlands with 20 assists. Crista Swenglish finished with seven digs and four aces. Tessa Sova had 12 digs and nine aces and Kendall Erminio finished with seven digs. Marissa Erminio added nine kills and nine digs.

Frazier 3, West Greene 0 — The Lady Commodores kept rolling along in Section 5-A action, defeating the visiting Lady Pioneers in straight sets. Frazier won by the scores 25-1, 25-16, 25-14. Gabby Muzina had 30 service points for Frazier (3-0, 3-0), with Kelsey Dillon adding 10 servic points. Megan Manack led with 16 kills.
