David A. “Harley” Phillips, 48, of Center Township, Greene County, died at 5:25 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011, in his home, after being seriously ill with a cancer-related illness for the past six weeks.

He was born May 11, 1963, in Follansbee, W.Va., a son of Norma Lillie Whipkey Phillips of Waynesburg and the late Henry Clymer Phillips. He had resided in Greene County, in the Pine Bank and Center Township areas, for the past 27 years.

He was employed in general construction most of his life, working for Columbia Gas Corp., the former Shumaker Construction Co. and in general home construction.

Mr. Phillips enjoyed the time he spent with his family and grandchildren, fishing, hunting and playing chess. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

On July 17, 1999, he married Margaret Ann Kazlman, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are three sons, twins Justin, husband of Stacy Phillips, and Joshua, husband of Sierra Phillips, both of Aleppo Township, and Nathan Ryan Phillips at home; two grandchildren; two brothers, William, husband of Donna Phillips of Hitchcock, Texas, and Gerald, husband of Mary Phillips of Holbrook; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Deceased, in addition to his father, are maternal grandparents Roy Lee “Royal” and Mary Whipkey, and paternal grandparents Clark and Else Phillips.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rush Funeral Home in Rogersville, PA.
