Ruth E. Smith
Ruth E. Smith of Peoria, Ariz., formerly of Carmichaels, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011, in Emeritus at Peoria.
She was born a daughter of Albert and Bessie Dumbauld Hoch.
Mrs. Smith worked as a tax accountant in Carmichaels for many years and was always active in civic affairs in her community. She was a former member of Carmichaels Area Chamber of Commerce and had been supportive to the Girl Scouts of America.
On June 17, 1947, she married Donald Leo Smith, who died January 30, 2009.
For many years, she volunteered with her husband, Donald, to work numerous fundraisers at the Carmichaels and Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Company.
Surviving are a son, Randy Von Smith and wife Beverly of Hancock, Maine; a daughter, Denise R. Kauffman and husband Scott of Chino Valley, Ariz.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a step-granddaughter, Melody Smith New York; and a sister, Charlotte Fucson of San Antonio, Texas.
Deceased are three brothers, Carl Hoch, Donald Hoch and Kenneth Hoch; and six sisters, Alma McNatt, Dolly Hess, Jennie Mae Reinhard, Judith Smith, Katherine Urbach and Louise Payne.
