Thomas R. Lewis, 70, of Fredericktown, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in his home.

He was born May 20, 1941, in Millsboro, son of the late William M. and Elsie M. Bane Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was a 1960 graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School and a graduate of Robert Morris College.

He was a gifted musician who played with various bands during his lifetime.

Mr. Lewis had worked at Vesta 5 Mine and Tunnelton Mine. After being laid off from the mines, he attended California University and eventually became a technician instructor for Wrightco Technologies. He also was judge of elections in East Bethlehem Township.

On September 2, 1967, he married Dorothy “Dottie” Jankovic, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Anita (Pat) Mullen of Mather and Michelle Lewis of Fredericktown; and two grandsons, with whom he enjoyed spending time.

His family was very important to him. Sundays were family days. He looked forward to his family gathering for dinner and spending the afternoon together. During football season, the family would gather around the TV to cheer for their favorite team, the Steelers.

Also surviving are two brothers, Robert Lewis and James (Carol) Lewis, both of Clarksville; and three sisters, Mary Howes of Fredericktown, Judy Lightner of Waynesburg and Kathy (Butch) Conley of Cleveland, Ohio.

Deceased are two brothers, William F. and Harry Joe Lewis, and a son, Scott Thomas Lewis, who died in infancy.
