Fun Day to include all community youth
Waynesburg University’s Council for Exceptional Children organization will gather community children, particularly those with special needs, for a day of snacks, crafts and games Saturday, April 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. on the University’s campus. Guests may register in the Stover Campus Center before 1 p.m.
Shannon Bartley, a junior early childhood education (special education) major and president of CEC, planned the event with the theme of inclusion in mind.
“We hope this day not only provides a fun day for the children, but also shows others that people with disabilities are just like everyone else and deserve to be included.”
CEC received a $1,000 Waynesburg University Community Impact Grant for the group’s Fun Day. In an effort to unite the campus and community, the event will allow University organizations and athletic teams to host a craft or a game for children in attendance.
“We are excited for this day because it will build a sense of community between Waynesburg University students, community families and community children with special needs,” Bartley said.
