Bowlby Library announces Jaunary events
The Eva K. Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg recently announced the following schedule for January.
n T.O.P.S. – Taking Off Pounds Sensibly is a weight management support group that meets every Saturday from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the library. New members are always welcome.
n The Bowlby Public Library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
n The Bowlby Public Library Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 5 p.m. at the library. New members are invited to join. Contact the ibrary for more information at 724-627-9776.
n The Adult Literacy program at the Bowlby Public Library offers free test preparation for the GED, Civil Service exams and drivers licensing and life skills. Also, any adult wishing to brush up on their basic reading and math skills can do so at no charge through the Family Literacy Department at the library. The Family Literacy Department also offers free tutoring for school-age children for the upcoming spring semester. Now is the time to focus on difficult subjects (reading, writing, and math) in a relaxed atmosphere. To make an appointment, or more information, call 724-627-9776.
n The Bowlby Public Library Board of Trustees will meet at the library on Monday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 pm. The board meetings of the library are free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend. If there are specific issues you would like to raise or have interest in making a brief presentation during a community forum – which are held immediately preceding the board meeting – contact the director well in advance to give them the best opportunity for accommodating you on the evening’s agenda. n The Friends of the Bowlby Public Library is accepting new members. Joining the organization is easy and your tax deductible donation will benefit the library. The Friends of the Library group consist of people who care about libraries and who are interested in promoting the welfare and growth of the Bowlby Library. n The Bowlby Public Library welcomes your donations of money given as a memorial or honorarium to its library. Acknowledgements will be made to the donor and the family honored. Gift plates will be placed in the books with names inscribed. For more information, call the library at 724-627-9776.
n The Bowlby Public Library is looking for local artists to display their artwork at the library. Collectors may also display collections in the display case. For more information, contact the library.
