Student with local ties to receive University Scholar Award

Renee’ Krista Gideon will receive the University Scholar Award from the University of Pittsburgh on Friday, Feb. 24 at the 36th Annual Honors Convocation in the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.

This honor distinction means that Gideon is in the top two percent in cumulative undergraduate academic standing within the university.

Gideon is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in accounting and finance. She is the vice-president of Women in Business, community service chair of the University of Pittsburgh Accounting Association, president of Recruiting and New Candidate Events for Beta Alpha Psi, member of Phi Epa Signa, Deans List recipient and teaching assistant for Quantitative Methods and Managing Complex Environments.

This summer, she accepted an audit internship with Accounting Firm Deloitte of Pittsburgh.

Renee’ is a graduate of Northville High School, Northville, Michigan class of 2010, where she received an academic scholarship to University of Pittsburgh.

She is the daughter of Kevin and Jacqueline Gideon of Northville, Michigan. Both parents are graduates of Carmichaels Area High School, Carmichaels. She is the granddaughter of Jack Denny of Allepo, Glenna Covino of Phoenix, Az. and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gideon of Carmichaels.
