Youths invited to join Horse and Pony Club
The Greene County 4-H Program invites anyone ages 8 to 18 interested in learning about horses to join the Greene County Horse and Pony Club.
This club is open to anyone who has a desire to learn about raising, breeding or riding horses. Owning a horse is not required to participate and benefit from this club.
The club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Greene County Extension Office, located at 26 West High Street in Waynesburg. Contact the Extension Office at 724-627-3745 for more information.
Horse projects are offered in four interest areas:
n Performance/Horsemanship (Level 1, Levels 2-5). Youth select and care for a horse or pony and keep a record of all activities with their horse at each level.
n Production. Youth in production projects breed a mare and/or raise and handle young horses up to four years of age. Records are kept for each animal enrolled in the project.
n Horseless. This project is for youth who do not own horses, but want to learn more about them. There are many opportunities for horseless members such as the safety and horsemanship skills programs, horse judging, hippology, horse bowl, skill-a-thon and communications contests, and much more!
Contact the Extension Office at 724-627-3745 for more information.
