Sprout Fund seeking applications for projects
The Sprout Fund, a nonprofit grantmaker based in Pittsburgh, is inviting neighborhood groups, civic organizations and others in Fayette and Greene counties to propose new projects and activities that could catalyze change and inspire innovation in their community.
Offering grants of up to $5,000, Sprout Seed Awards provide critical financial support for projects and programs in the early stages of development when just a small amount of investment has the potential to yield big results in the community.
“Sprout is looking to support creative approaches to the unique local issues in Fayette and Greene counties in 2012,” said Mac Howison, Sprout’s funding programs manager, “and we welcome applications for small project ideas from anyone — you need not be a 501c3 organization to qualify.”
The Sprout Fund has awarded more than $35,000 total to nine projects in Fayette and Greene counties since 2011.
In March, the Sprout Fund is offering one more round with $12,500 available in Seed Award funding. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 4. Decisions will be announced five to six weeks after the deadline.
To encourage new ideas for project applications, the Sprout Fund will conduct graphically facilitated community brainstorming sessions for all people and organizations interested in applying for funding.
Sprout will be at the Fayette Chamber of Commerce office, 65. W. Main St., Uniontown, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15.
