Charles J. Medlen Sr.

Charles J. “Chuck” Medlen Sr., 65, of Morris Township, Greene County, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born December 18, 1946, in Burgettstown, son of the late Charles Arthur and Georgeanna Elizabeth Harris Medlen.

Mr. Medlen had resided in Wind Ridge for several years, prior to moving to Morris Township in 1996.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed raccoon hunting, restoring old tractors, feeding wildlife, video games, and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.

Mr. Medlen was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local 66 in Monroeville for 30 years, prior to retiring in 2006.

On April 17, 1965, he married Wanda Phyllis Archemovich, who survives.

Also surviving are five children, Valerie Jean Christopher of Litchfield, Ariz., Charles J. Medlen Jr., husband of Paula Medlen of Graysville, Athena Joy Bowman of Waynesburg, Dion Lee, husband of Monique Medlen of El Mirage, Ariz., and Kresta Lee, wife of David Porter of Graysville; nine grandchildren; three brothers, John, husband of Gloria Medlen of Claysville, George, husband of Ellen Medlen of Stockdale, and Edwin Medlen of Claysville; six sisters, Dorothea, wife of John May of Greensboro, Peg, wife of Robert Teegarden of Washington, Carol, wife of John Flaherty of Burgettstown, Diana, wife of William Johnson of Eighty Four, Athelia Patricia Medlen of Elm Grove, W.Va., and Deborah Hewitt of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Mary Ann and Catherine Medlen, and brother, Donald Harold Medlen, who all died in infancy.
