Carmichaels Chamber holds meeting
The Carmichaels Area Chamber of Commerce met March 6 in the Greene Academy and heard reports on events taking place in the community.
Greene County Sheriff Richard Ketchem will speak on drugs and alcohol at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on March 22 at 7 p.m.
“The Last Supper” will be presented at 7 p.m. March 25 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and at St. Hugh Catholic Church at 7 p.m. March 29.
The 66th Carmichaels Chamber Dinner Dance will be held on Saturday, April 28 in the fire hall. Emcee will be Joe Cybak,music by DJ Dave Plavi, catering by Back Bay, and decorating by Magic Moments. Tickets at $20 each are available from chamber directors, Brodak’s Shop N Save, and Yingling Insurance Agency. Special guests will be 2011 Pennsylvania Bituminous Coal Queen Victoria Buchtan, and the winner of the Sara Ruth Memorial Scholarship.
Business owners are reminded the dues for 2012 must be paid by March 25 to be in the dinner dance program book.
The essay entries for the Sara Ruth Memorial Scholarship by Carmichaels Area High School seniors are due by the end of this month. Applications are available at the high school guidance office.
It was reported that the Red Cross has opened a new disaster shelter with 87 cots in Jefferson.
