A lifelong resident, born and raised in Waynesburg, he was a son of Jesse R. and Edna Montgomery Scott.

He was happily married to Jean Longanecker Scott for 39 years until her death in 1988. A sister, Ruth Scott Brown, lives in Largo, Fla., and another sister, Katharine Scott Soles, is deceased. He leaves three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Scott and Michael Meighen of Pittsburgh, Diane and Jim Schmunk of Avon, Conn., and Nancy and Ron Burton of Acworth Ga.

In his retirement years, he loved nothing more than traveling to northern Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Arizona and Georgia to spend time with his seven grandchildren and their families.

He was an active member in First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg, where he served as an elder for many years. He served on the board of Greene County Memorial Hospital, was president of the board of Green Mount Cemetery in Waynesburg and was a longtime member of Greene County Country Club.

He will be forever remembered and missed as a loving father and grandfather, an avid longtime golfer and road-tripper, servant to God and his family and a generous and loyal friend.
