Roy M. Fluharty, 86, of Nemacolin, died Monday, March 12, 2012, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.

Mr. Fluharty was born January 24, 1926, in Osage, W.Va., son of the late Jefferson and Margaret Shutz Fluharty.

He was a 1943 graduate of Clay Battelle High School, Blacksville, W.Va.

Surviving is his wife, Ruthalie Morris Fluharty, whom he married July 9, 1990.

In addition to his wife, surviving are four sons, Milford Fluharty and wife Beverly of Follansbee, W.Va., Joel Fluharty and wife Marilyn of San Diego, Calif., Stephen Fluharty and wife Kathy of Maybee, Mich., and Daren Tenney of Carmichaels; daughter Lucinda Mains and husband Marty of Fayetteville, N.C.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Georgia Eernisse, Eileen Snider and husband Charles and Margaret Tennant and husband Mahlon; and brother Donald Fluharty and wife Jean.

In addition to his parents, deceased are his first wife, Eloise Belford Fluharty; two daughters, Elizabeth Cooper and Kimberly White; a brother Jay J. Fluharty; and sister Edith Rudolph.

Mr. Fluharty worked as a coal miner and a Greyhound bus driver and retired as an over-the-road truck driver.

He was a great lover of horses, dogs and cats and took care of many over his lifetime.

Mr. Fluharty was a member of Church of Christ, Waynesburg.
