Charles Edward Lemley, 82, of Quiet Dell Community, Fairmont passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 with his family by his side at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown following a brief illness.

He was born in Muncie, Indiana on January 9, 1930, a son of the late Edward Dewey and Martha (Price) Lemley. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Mt. Morris, PA and attended school in Greene County and graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1948.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Masters Lemley. The couple married on June 7, 1953 in Waynesburg, PA.

Charles proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War, obtaining a Corporal ranking and was awarded the National Defense Ribbon. He also served 6 years in the Marine Corp Reserves. He was retired from North American Philips, where he worked as a machinist with 39 years of service. He spent his adult life in the Quiet Dell Community, raising two children, Kenneth and Nancy and building their family home. He attended Viola Church and Highland Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion, Senior Citizens Inc., Cross Roads Center, Quiet Dell Community Center, the NRA, the VFW and a retired member of the AFL-CIO-IUE Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, coin collecting and helping his neighbors.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth E. Lemley and his wife Lori of Plattsmouth, NE, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Lois Mae Blaker and her husband Jerry of Mt. Morris and Clara Jane Richmond and her husband Grant of Kokomo, Ind., one brother, Allen Dale Lemley of Mt. Morris; his loving companion, Rosella Palmer of Fairmont; his dog Gismo; and step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, a son-in-law, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Fullmer, a grandson, Christopher Lemley and a sister, Anna Lou Lemley.
