BENEFIT DINNER – A spaghetti dinner will be held on Sunday, May 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mt. Morris Fire Hall. Sponsored by the Mt. Morris Lion’s Club. The dinner will benefit the Mt. Morris Senior Citizens. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Take out will be available.

MEMORIAL RIDE – The 8th annual Bataan Death March Memorial Ride will take place on Saturday, May 5 gathering at the New American Legion Post 51 on Route 40 east just outside of Uniontown. After a short program, riders will depart the post at 11 a.m. Traveling throughout the tri-county area placing American and POW/MIA flags at cemetery’s and local honor rolls. There is no fee for this ride, you do not have to ride a motorcycle to attend this ride. Riders will go to California, Fredericktown, Clarksville, Carmichaels, Point Marion and selected other towns. DOCK TO LOCK – The Greene County Department of Recreation will host the 2012 Dock to Lock 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 12, along the Greene River Trail. Registration is $20 per person and can be paid before the race or on the day of the race. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 7:15 a.m. at the Rices Landing Fire Hall. At 8:30 a.m., participants will be bussed to the starting line of the Greene River Trail at the Greene Cove Yacht Club. To download a race entry form, visit www.co.greene.pa.us. RELAY FOR LIFE – The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Greene County will be held at the Waynesburg Central High School Raider Field of Pride May 5-6. This annual event brings in thousands of dollars to enable cancer research and provide educational materials to cancer victims and their families. SERVICES OFFERED – Domestic violence is a problem in our community that many like to pretend does not exist. It’s time to break the silence and work together to be part of the solution. Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA offers free and confidential services for victims of domestic violence in Greene County. For more info, call 724-852-2463 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The agency is looking for individuals who may be interested in volunteering as a point person for specific communities, to help raise awareness and distribute literature throughout the area. 4-H PROGRAM – The Greene County 4-H Program invites anyone ages 8 to 18 interested in learning about horses to join the Greene County Horse and Pony Club. This club is open to anyone who has a desire to learn about raising, breeding or riding horses. Owning a horse is not required to participate and benefit from this club. The club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Greene County Extension Office, located at 26 West High Street, Waynesburg.
