SQUARE DANCE – Square dancing (also line dancing, polkas and more) will be held Friday, May 11 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Rogersville Fire Hall. Caller will be Dave Dahl. FARMERS’ MARKET – The Greensboro Farmers’ Market will be held, rain or shine, each Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 pm., now through Oct. 13. In case of severe weather warnings the market may be postponed for opening or canceled. On May 12, the children’s art project will decorate terra cotta pots and plant flowers in them for Mother’s Day. This activity will be sponsored by Clark’s Nursery on Route 88 in Carmichaels.
DOCK TO LOCK – The Greene County Department of Recreation will host the 2012 Dock to Lock 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 12, along the Greene River Trail. Registration is $20 per person and can be paid before the race or on the day of the race. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 7:15 a.m. at the Rices Landing Fire Hall. At 8:30 a.m., participants will be bussed to the starting line of the Greene River Trail at the Greene Cove Yacht Club. To download a race entry form, visit www.co.greene.pa.us. CAR SHOW – The 2nd annual “Cruisin’ for a Cure” Car Show will be held May 19 at the Greene County Airport in Waynesburg. This car cruise will benefit the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. Registration begins at 10 am. There is a $10 registration fee for vehicles. All makes, models and years of cars, trucks, motorcycles and even tractors are welcome. FAMILY PICNIC – The Southwestern Local Task Force of Intermediate Unit 1 will host its first annual “Family Picnic” on June 7 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Ten Mile Creek Park. All parents of children with disabilities are encouraged to attend, as well as personnel from agencies and school districts in the Greene, Fayette and Washington counties. Everyone is welcome.
SERVICES OFFERED – Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA offers free and confidential services for victims of domestic violence in Greene County. For more info, call 724-852-2463 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The agency is looking for individuals who may be interested in volunteering as a point person for specific communities, to help raise awareness and distribute literature throughout the area. 4-H PROGRAM – The Greene County 4-H Program invites anyone ages 8 to 18 interested in learning about horses to join the Greene County Horse and Pony Club. This club is open to anyone who has a desire to learn about raising, breeding or riding horses. Owning a horse is not required to participate and benefit from this club. The club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Greene County Extension Office, located at 26 West High Street, Waynesburg.
