Greene Arc presents ‘Lunch and Learn’
In March, staff from Southwest Regional Medical Center’s Behavioral Health Unit participated in a lunch and learn presented by Greene Arc, Inc. Jim Womeldorff, MH recovery director, Cynthia Dias, executive director, and Mary Keim, director of residential services, focused on the role Greene Arc, Inc. plays for clients admitted to the behavioral health unit.
“Our goal is to work in partnership to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients,” Dias said. “We are here to help in any way we can.”
Greene Arc works closely with Southwest Regional staff members any time a client is admitted to the hospital. They act as power of attorney for many clients, enabling medical decision making.
Southwest Regional Medical Center’s inpatient behavioral health unit consists of 26 beds, available to treat patients over the age of 18 for conditions, including schizophrenia, depression and dementia. The unit recently expanded programming to better target the therapeutic needs of patients.
“The new programming was designed to improve therapeutic services with the objective of raising our quality of care for each individual patient,” said Jennifer Campbell, MSW and director of the Behavioral Health Unit at Southwest Regional Medical Center.
Through these changes, patients and families are now more directly involved in the therapeutic process. “Our goal from day one is to work toward a successful discharge and ensuring the best quality of life possible for each patient,” continued Campbell.
“We are most successful when we fully include family and appropriate community organizations, such as Greene Arc.”
