Andrea F. Miller, “Ang”, of McLean, Virginia passed away at home Wednesday May 16, 2012 after a brave battle with lung cancer. She was 67.

‘Ang’, daughter of Andrew Miller and Ann Kavlick Miller, was born on April 13, 1945 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.

She grew up in the coal mining village of Bobtown, Pa.

‘Ang’ graduated f r o m Mapletown High School, Class of 1963, where she was the President of the National Honor Society, voted most Athletic, active in the Student Council, and made many lifelong friends.

After graduation, she moved to the Washington, D.C., area to pursue a career with the Federal Government where she made multiple enduring friendships.

‘Ang’ had a very successful career at the Department of Interior where she served as a Safety Officer and Management Analyst at the Bureau of Land Management and a Supervisory Collections Specialist at the Office of Surface Mining. She received numerous awards for her outstanding work. She was offered an early retirement, which she happily accepted and thoroughly enjoyed.

‘Ang’ loved rock and roll, the “golden oldies”, dogs, sports, games and crossword puzzles, working in her yard and house and keeping in touch with her many friends and family.

‘Ang’ was a player and pitcher for the Golden Girls Softball Team, who made it into the Senior Olympics in New Orleans, Louisiana.

She was an extremely charismatic, fun loving and caring person and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her!

She is survived by her sister, Gloriann Rota and husband Leonard of Strongsville, Ohio; her brother, David Miller and wife Cheryl of Salisbury, Maryland; three nieces; many dear grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. She also leaves many friends, especially Linda Gibbs and Karen Schiff of Falls Church, Virginia; and her beloved dog, Brodie.
