University’s Christ & Culture Lecture Series to feature Dr. James K.A. Smith
Waynesburg University’s Christ & Culture Lecture Series will be held Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 10 and 11, and will feature Dr. James K.A. Smith, professor of philosophy and adjunct professor of congregational and ministry studies at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Smith, a research fellow of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and a senior fellow for The Colossian Forum, was awarded the Canadian Christian Writing Award for 2011 by the Word Guild for “Thinking in Tongues: Pentecostal Contributions to Christian Philosophy.” He is also the author of “Letters to a Young Calvinist,” “Science and the Spirit,” “Desiring the Kingdom” and “The Logic of Incarnation,” among many others.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa; his M.Phil. from the Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto, Ontario; and his Ph.D. from Villanova University in Villanova, Pa.
In addition to his two public lectures, Smith will preach the university’s weekly chapel service Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. in Roberts Chapel.
