State police to hold child safety event

1 min read

Pennsylvania State Police in Waynesburg will be conducting a free child restraint checkup event on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Carmichaels Borough/Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Department, located at 420 West George Street in Carmichaels.

The event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Any parents wanting to have their child restraint checked for recalls and learn how to properly secure child seats are encouraged to participate. Certified Child Restraint Technicians from the Pennsylvania State Police will be available to assist.

State police will be participating in the National Child Passenger Safety Week campaign Sept. 16-22. During this period, state police will be taking additional steps to ensure public safety on the highways.

This will be done through enforcement and education. The enforcement efforts will include additional troopers patrolling the highways and conducting aggressive enforcement of occupant restraint and child safety seat violations, as well as crash-causing violations which include DUI, speeding and aggressive driving.
