Conservation District plans Field Day at local farm

1 min read

The Greene County Conservation District will host a Field Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Jefferson farm of Jim Willis.

The Field Day is free and open to the public, although pre-registration is required. Lunch will be provided.

Activities will include a tour of the farm’s grazing and water distribution systems, winter feeding area and manure management systems. Many of these best-management practices were funded through a state Department of Environmental Protection Growing Greener grant targeting nonpoint source pollution.

The Field Day will also feature a demonstration of the Conservation District’s 2-ton wet lime spreader, which is available to rent for a fee.

For more information, or to pre-register for the Field Day by Oct. 15, call the Conservation District at 724-852-5278.
