COUNTY CALENDAR
TOY DRIVE – The Tri-County Leathernecks Association in Greene County is holding its annual Christmas toy drive, in which they collect and distribute toys for area children. This year, the Leathernecks will distribute toys on Dec. 21 at the following four locations, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: The Greene County Fairgrounds, Carmichaels American Legion, St. Thomas Church in Clarksville and the Bobtown Civic Club. CHRISTMAS BUFFET – The 24th annual Christmas buffet will be held at the Greene County Career and Technology Center on Friday, Dec. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per person. SQUARE DANCE – A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) will be held on Friday, Dec. 13 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Rogersville Fire Hall. Caller will be Dave Dahl. COMMUNITY DINNER – A Community Christmas dinner will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Center Twp. Fire Hall in Rogersville. Meat, rolls and beverages will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Santa will visit.
FREE EVENT – Ryerson South Wheeling Baptist Church is hosting a free event at their church, a Christmas Musical Play titled “Heart of Merry Goes-Around.” There will be two shows: Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. followed by a church dinner. CANDLELIGHT JOURNEY – Join the Carmichaels Ministerium for “The Candlelight Journey through Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. The “Journey” begins at the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church and then proceeds to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and then St. Hugh’s Catholic Church. The evening will journey through the Christmas story with music, caroling, scripture and drama. Refreshments will follow at St. Hugh’s. Please dress for weather and bring a flashlight. TRIP PLANNED – The Waynesburg Travelers are going to Mackinac Island next June and there is still some room on the second bus.
