Commissioners appoint, reappoint members to county boards
WAYNESBURG — Greene County commissioners recently appointed and reappointed members to various county boards effective January 2014.
Larry Marshall was reappointed to the fair board; William A. Cree III was appointed as chairman of the county’s farmland preservation board; Victoria Beppler, Cathy McCollom, Jim Winegar and Matthew Young were appointed to the county’s tourist promotion agency board; Larry Stratton, Francis Minor and Alfred Burns were reappointed to the planning commission board; Donna Furnier, John Mariner and Reed Kiger were reappointed to the tax abatement board; Thelma Szarell was reappointed to the redevelopment authority board; Andrew Corfont was reappointed to the industrial development authority board; and Pat Lemley, Sam Silbaugh, Laura Walters and the Rev. Harold Kelley were appointed to the Children and Youth Services board.
The commissioners also accepted the resignations of Bob Keller from the planning commission board and Keli Reams from the human services advisory board.
All of the appointments, reappointments and resignations were approved during the commissioners’ regular meeting on Dec. 12.
Following the commissioners’ regular meeting, the county salary board approved numerous motions.
For the county jail, the salary board approved the promotion of Davida Romanakis to regular part-time corrections officer effective Nov. 10 and Matthew Thomas to regular full-time corrections officer effective Nov. 24; approved the transfer of Rob Strope from regular full-time to regular part-time corrections officer effective Nov. 24; accepted the resignations of Shayne Krause, corrections officer, effective Nov. 19, and Thomas Jordan, casual corrections officer, effective Oct. 31; and agreed to revoke the hiring of David Pritchard and Dennis Thomas as casual corrections officers due to them not accepting the positions.
For the human services program, the board approved the transfer of Linda Raymont from regular full-time to regular part-time county caseworker effective Dec. 1.
For the children and youth services department, the board approved the retirement of Donna Neino, CYS fiscal manager, effective Jan. 3.
For the transportation department, the board agreed to hire three casual van drivers, Jewel Wrick, Robert Desmet and Sarah Humphreys, effective Dec. 2.
The board also approved the resignation of Ryan White, field assessor I for the tax assessment office, effective Dec. 3, and the retirement of Susan Roupe, assistant director for the tax claims office, effective Dec. 31.
For the recreation department, the board agreed to hire Cynthia Kaufman and Tammy Roberts as temporary concession workers for Mon View Roller Rink effective Nov. 11; and the board agreed to terminate Darla Vrona, temporary summer clerk, effective Oct. 25.
For the county sheriff’s office, the board agreed to terminate Andrew Kopacko, temporary sheriff deputy, effective Oct. 25, and approved the retirement of Sheriff Richard Ketchem effective Dec. 31.
The board also agreed to hire two interns, Kayla Coss as a temporary intern for the tourism department effective Dec. 16 and Laurie Thomas as a legal intern for the public defender effective Nov. 18.
The board also agreed to rehire Mary Ann Fuller as regular full-time magisterial assistant for the office of Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates effective Dec. 2.
The board also approved the retirements of Thomas Headlee, director of the register and recorder’s office, and Rosalind Laur, jury commissioner, both effective Dec. 31.
The board also agreed to remove Lynn Leathers, jury commissioner, from county payroll effective Dec. 31 because the county is abolishing the position of jury commissioner.
Finally, the salary board agreed to transfer the status of part-time clerk Karen Taylor for the human resources department to full-time effective Jan. 1.
