Newest area House member setting up offices
State Rep. Pam Snyder joined her fellow members of the state House Tuesday to be sworn into office, beginning her first term as the representative for the 50th Legislative District previously held by Bill DeWeese.
“We were all sworn in at the same time by the Honorable Common Please Judge Craig Dally of Northampton County. It was very nice,” Snyder said.
Snyder won’t know until later this week to which of the 24 House committees she may be assigned.
“They asked us to rank them 1 through 24. In my top three or four, I asked for education, labor, transportation and aging services,” Snyder said.
Some of the more mundane housekeeping issues have been addressed, such as parking spaces and seating assignments.
“I’m in seat number 28, right behind the minority leader. I love my office assignment. It’s on the ground floor of the main Capitol building in the east wing. I was very pleased with all my assignments,” Snyder said.
Snyder is also in the process of setting up her three district offices. The main office will be in Carmichaels at 104 S. Market St., Suite 101. The phone number there is 724-966-8953.
She is also staffing offices in Brownsville and Waynesburg. The Brownsville office is located at 33 Market St., Suite 1, with the phone number 724-784-8477. The Waynesburg office is at 93 E. High St., Room 215, with the phone number 724-627-8683. All of the offices are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
Snyder’s legislative Web page is also now active and can be found at www.pahouse.com/Snyder.
”I will be a strong advocate for the district and work directly with all communities and constituents,” Snyder said in a prepared release.
The 50th Legislative District includes portions of Fayette, Greene and Washington counties. Snyder served nine years as a Greene County Commissioner before being elected to the House in November.
