AVIATION DAY – Aviation Day will be held at the Greene County Airport on Oct. 5. Presented by SOAR of Greene County and EAA Chapters 978 and 842, this event features airplane rides, aircraft static displays, food, and lots of other fun activities. Free admission and parking. SENIOR EXPO – State Sen. Tim Solobay, along with state Rep. Pam Snyder, the Greene County Commissioners and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, will host the second annual Greene County Senior Expo on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Greene County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will feature vendors who will provide health screenings and materials on available programs of interest to older adults. Flu vaccinations will also be available.
SQUARE DANCE – A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) will be held on Friday, October 11 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Rogersville Fire Hall. Caller will be Dave Dahl. FISHING EVENT – Kids’ AND Ladies’ Day of Fishing (Fall Trout) will be held in Clarksville Oct. 12. Come to the stream site at the Old Chartiers Mine in Clarksville and enjoy some fall trout fishing. The kids’ fishing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Following this, a free hot dog barbecue will be held, including drinks and snacks for the kids. Prizes will be given to each child participant, along with special awards for contest winners in each age group. CHURCH DINNER – Rolling Meadows Church of God Women’s Ministries will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dinner will include creamed chicken over biscuits, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce and beverage. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 4-12, and $2 for children under 4. A yard and bake sale will also be held during this time. Yard sale starts at 9 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the church. HARVEST FESTIVAL – The 42nd annual Greene County Historical Society Harvest Festival will be held Oct. 12 and 13 at the Greene County Historical Museum in Waynesburg. Celebrate the harvest season with a host of activities. Area crafters and artisans will be conducting demonstrations and will have items available for purchase. Witness Civil War re-enactors and living history demonstrations. ANNUAL EVENT – The 33rd annual Keystone Autumn Klassic will be held Oct. 19 at Woodside Farm in Waynesburg. This annual shorthorn cattle show and sale features exhibitors from all over the mid-Atlantic region. FALL FESTIVAL – Cornerstone Ministry Center (at the old Dilworth Mine), located at 381 Willis Road in Jefferson, will hold its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, everyone is welcome. FALL FESTIVAL – A Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 224 South Market Street in Carmichaels. FARMERS’ MARKET – The Greensboro Farmers’ Market will be held, rain or shine, each Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 pm., now through October. In case of severe weather warnings, the market may be postponed for opening or canceled.
