HELP NEEDED – Calling all Carmichaels High School Girls of the Month! The Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club is trying to locate all past girls of the month in celebration of its 75th anniversary. The club is in need of the names of the girls of the month from the 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Anyone who had been selected as a girl of the month by the Carmichaels Women’s Club is asked to call 724-966-2486.
CHURCH EVENT – Spraggs United Methodist Church will be holding its 12th annual Joyful Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. There will be a covered dish wiener roast. Hot dogs, buns, drinks and paper products will be provided. This free event will feature sack races, horse drawn wagon rides and more and will be open to the public. There will also be door prizes donated by local businesses. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place in the basement of the church.
BENEFIT BBQ – West Union Presbyterian Church, located at 122 West Union Station Road in Sycamore, will hold a Chicken BBQ featuring “Mitch’s Recipe Chicken” on Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m. Cost is $10 for chicken dinners and $10 for whole chickens. There will be homemade food, pies whole or by the slice, and other desserts. Whole chickens will be cooked by Keith and Karla at WW Railroad Road location. ANNUAL EVENT – The 33rd annual Keystone Autumn Klassic will be held Oct. 19 at Woodside Farm in Waynesburg. This annual shorthorn cattle show and sale features exhibitors from all over the mid-Atlantic region. BENEFIT DINNER – The Carmichaels Free Methodist Church is hosting a cream chicken and biscuit dinner to benefit Operation Christmas Child at the Carmichaels Grange on Route 21 on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 12 to 6 p.m. Price is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-12, and free for children under 2. COMMUNITY DINNER – A community dinner will be held at Rogersville United Methodist Church (Social Hall) on Friday, Oct. 25 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The meal will be spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drink. FALL FESTIVAL – Cornerstone Ministry Center (at the old Dilworth Mine), located at 381 Willis Road in Jefferson, will hold its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, everyone is welcome. BENEFIT EVENT – A “Firefighter’s Jamboree” will be held at the Center Twp. Fire Hall in Rogersville on Saturday, Nov. 2. The event will feature music by Dave Clark, Bob Podish and Elvis Tribute Artist Dave Townsend. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. Open mic will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults and youths 14 and up. Proceeds will benefit the Center Twp. Fire Dept.
FALL FESTIVAL – A Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 224 South Market Street in Carmichaels. FARMERS’ MARKET – The Greensboro Farmers’ Market will be held, rain or shine, each Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 pm., now through October. In case of severe weather warnings, the market may be postponed for opening or canceled.
