J-M’s Alexander places 6th in PIAA golf championships (copy)

Gillian Alexander just missed the medals stand at the PIAA Individual Golf Championships hosted by Heritage Hills Golf Resort & Conference Center in York on Tuesday.

Alexander, a junior at Jefferson-Morgan, finished sixth in the girls Class AA final after shooting a 13-over 85 in the second round for a two-day total of 25-over 169.

Kutztown’s Shannon Weber shot a 22-over 166 for the fifth and final spot on the awards stand.

Alexander opened with a birdie-3 on No. 1, but had bogeys on No. 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8, and a double bogey-6 on No. 9 to go out in 6-over 42. The back nine followed suit for Alexander with two double bogeys, four bogeys and a birdie-2 on No. 12.

Central Valley’s Macky Fouse held on to her first-round lead to win the Class AA crown with an 8-over 152 after shooting a 5-over 77 on Tuesday.

Greensburg Central Catholic’s Olivia Zambruno, from Bullskin Township, finished ninth with a two-day total of 28-over 172.

Fairfield’s Isaiah Logue won the boys Class AA crown with a a 3-under 139 after shooting a 2-under 69 in the final round. Mount Saint Joseph’s Isabella Dilisio won the girls Class AAA title with a 4-over 148.
