Spotlight program offers a new car

High school scholar/athletes will vie for the keys to a new automobile through the Centennial Chevrolet Scholar/Athlete Spotlight program, which is co-sponsored by the Herald-Standard.
Scholar/athletes from each of Greene County’s five high schools will be profiled in coming editions of the Greene County Messenger.
School administrators present scholar/athletes to the newspaper. The program runs through the school year and is orchestrated by season.
Administrators are asked to submit their fall sports honorees as soon as possible. They will appear on a first-come, first-served basis. Once fall sports blend into winter sports, we will start all over again and the same holds true for spring sports.
All told, 30 Greene County scholar/athletes will be profiled. From that list (six from each of five schools), administrators will be asked to identify their top male and top female scholar/athlete of the year.
Those 10 young men and women will be invited to an awards presentation program, along with those from 11 other schools. At that program, one scholar/athlete will receive our top prize, a new Chevrolet Spark.
That’ll help him or her get to college and, of course, make it easier to come home for weekends or holidays.
There will be other prizes awarded that night. Last year’s prizes were televisions and computer-related items. Carmichaels’ Josh Mundell was a grand prize winner.
