Solobay to host hearing on effects of power plan closings

1 min read

State Sen. Tim Solobay will host the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee tomorrow for a public hearing to examine the effects that the planned shutdown of two local power plants could have on the overall reliability of the electric grid and on consumers.

The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in the third-floor conference center at Waynesburg University’s Stover Campus Center.

Representatives of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, FirstEnergy and PJM Interconnection are scheduled to appear and answer questions about the planned closures, which will directly affect 380 jobs and indirectly affect thousands more.

Parking on the campus of the university is extremely limited. Media members who plan to attend the hearing can get more information on parking by emailing Sen. Solobay’s Chief of Staff, Sharon Willison, at swillison@pasenate.com.
