Sandra Carter Sumang
Sandra Carter Sumang, 68, of Waynesburg and formerly of Holbrook, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in the WVU Hospitals, Inc. (Ruby Memorial), Morgantown, W.Va. after suffering a stroke, in the middle of September.
She was born December 23, 1944 in Fairmount, W.Va. a daughter of the late Delbert and Violet Miner Miller.
Mrs. Sumang had resided in the Holbrook area from 1973 until moving to the state of Washington in 1995 where she resided until returning to Greene County in 2012.
She was employed as an LPN at the former Curry Home (Waynesburg), the Humbert Lane Nursing Home & Rehab and the Bronson House, both in Washington, and a nursing home in the state of Washington for a total of over 20 years combined service prior to retiring in 2012 due to ill health.
Mrs. Sumang enjoyed all animals, singing, listening to country music and the time with her grandchildren.
On April 17, 1973 she married Donald Eugene Carter who died February 17, 1995, and was last married to Timothy Edwin Sumang who died in 2011.
Surviving is a daughter, Malissa (Missy), wife of John Black, II of Holbrook; two grandchildren, Devin and Brayden Black.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. Private interment will be held in the Braddock Cemetery, Graysville, Pa. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Rd., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
