Charles J. “Radar” Halmos

Charles J. “Radar” Halmos, 69, of Mather, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born October 1, 1944, in Budapest, Hungary, a son of the late Milan and Helen Cisby Halmos. Mr. Halmos was a graduate of Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, and attended Youngstown University. He was a master sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Halmos worked as an analyst for Emerald Coal Co. He was a member of American Legion Post 954 of Jefferson.

Surviving are two daughters, Christine Halmos and Susanne Halmos, both of Poland, Ohio; two stepchildren, Brett Statler of Crucible and Bonita Hollabaugh of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; four step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Priscilla Stratkovits of Plymouth, Mich., and Clara Coront of Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

A service of remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, in American Legion Post 954, 156 Franklin Street, Jefferson.
