Seventh Annual Duck Race to be held April 13
WAYNESBURG — On April 13, Southwest Regional Medical Center will host its Seventh Annual Duck Race.
Duck Race 2014 will be held at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Waynesburg from 1 to 3 p.m. Proceeds from the event benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Greene County.
The event will feature a fun-filled day of games, food, prizes, an egg hunt and, best of all, the duck race. The Easter bunny will also be making an appearance. Participants may adopt rubber ducks for $5 each and purchase t-shirts for $10. Ducks and t-shirts can be purchased in advance or at the door.
T-shirts will be available on a first come first served basis.
At 2:25 p.m., all ducks will be dumped from the Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Department fire truck.
The duck that lands closest to the bulls-eye will win $100, the second closest duck $50, the third closest duck $25 and the furthest duck will receive $25.
New this year is the spirit duck competition. Each school district in the county has submitted a decorated duck to display at the race. Attendees can vote for their favorite duck by placing $1 votes in the container. Fifty percent of the total votes will be given to the spirit duck receiving the most votes. The remaining monies will be divided between the other schools.
